Pricing — a free core, and every paid path priced in the open

Is Foreverse free? The app is free, the core features carry no monthly fee and no message caps. Only two things ever cost money: the model cost of AI generation (your own key at list price with zero markup, or pay-as-you-go credits with 5,000 granted at sign-up), and an optional one-time $19.99 Pro purchase. No subscription anywhere. This page spells out every number.

What does the free tier include, and where is the line?

The free tier is the whole app: import and read, inline continuation, branch management, character card chat, lorebooks, regex, listening, per-item export — all of it, with no “30 messages a day” style throttle. The boundary is three quantity limits — at most 3 imported local books, 3 character cards, and 3 AI companions — plus two bulk utilities (full-library backup and whole-backup ZIP import) reserved for Pro.

Hitting a limit never holds your data hostage: imported books stay readable and existing characters keep chatting — you just can’t add more without Pro. And with your own API key, every AI capability (continuation, illustration, narration, video) is open to free users. We don’t make money by locking features.

The BYOK route: your own key, at list price — why zero markup?

BYOK (bring your own key) is Foreverse’s first paid route — the money just doesn’t come to us. Put a key from any of the 62 preconfigured providers (DeepSeek, Zhipu, Moonshot, OpenRouter, and so on) into the app, and requests travel from your phone straight to the provider at raw list price. The key is stored on-device with system-level encryption and never touches our servers, so there is literally no place for us to insert a markup. Anything not on the preset list connects as a custom OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint.

The full per-provider list with modality flags is in the provider directory; how keys are stored and routed is on the BYOK page.

How are official credits priced?

Don’t want to register provider accounts, fetch keys, or configure endpoints? The official channel works out of the box: 1 credit = $0.0001, and signing up grants 5,000 credits — worth $0.50, roughly 260 light continuations (80–130k characters of new text) at DeepSeek V4 Flash list price. After that you pay for exactly what you use, credits never expire, and every deduction is itemized in the usage log. Model rates include a service margin of about 50% over public list price — that margin buys the zero-setup experience. Heavy users who care about unit price should take the BYOK route above.

PackCreditsGoogle PlayAlipay (foreverse.cn)
Starter6,000$0.99¥7.1
Standard (recommended)26,000$2.99¥21.5
Deep work90,000$9.99¥71.9
Studio340,000$32.99¥237

The four packs carry identical credit amounts on Google Play and the Chinese Alipay store (CNY converted at 7.2); the pack lineup and final prices are always whatever the in-app store shows at purchase time. To price a specific model and workload, run the cost calculator; public list prices per model are in the model price table.

The one-time Pro purchase: what it is, what it isn’t

Pro lifts the three quantity caps — local books, character cards, and companions go from 3 each to unlimited — and adds two bulk utilities: full-library backup and whole-backup ZIP import. One account covers up to 5 devices. The price is a one-time $19.99 on Google Play (¥144 via Alipay on the Chinese store), permanent after a single payment. It is not a subscription, there is no “Pro monthly”, and it touches no core features — the free tier already has them all. If you never import more than 3 books, you simply don’t need it.

BYOK or official credits — how to choose?

The short answer first: if you’re a light user, buy nothing yet. The free tier plus the 5,000-credit grant is enough to try continuation, roleplay, and listening end to end — decide where the money goes after that.

Pick official credits if you never want to touch a provider console: no account, no key, one balance across every model, and a $2.99 pack goes a long way. Pick BYOK if you already hold a DeepSeek or OpenRouter account, generate heavily every day, or need a model the official channel doesn’t carry — raw list price always wins at volume, and provider promotions land in your pocket. The two routes are not exclusive: run text on your own DeepSeek key and images on official credits, chosen per model.

FAQ

Is Foreverse free?

The app is a free download. Reading, inline continuation, roleplay chat, and listening carry no platform fee and no daily message caps. Money enters in exactly two places: the model cost of AI generation itself (bring your own API key at provider list price with zero markup, or pay-as-you-go official credits — sign-up grants 5,000), and an optional one-time Pro purchase ($19.99) that lifts quantity limits. There is no subscription.

Where exactly is the free-tier boundary?

Three quantity limits: up to 3 imported local books, 3 character cards, and 3 AI companions; going past any of them requires Pro. Core features are not paywalled — branching, lorebooks, regex, and per-item export all work on the free tier (only two bulk utilities, full-library backup and whole-backup ZIP import, ship with Pro), and with your own key every AI capability (continuation, images, narration, video) is open. Exceeding a limit never deletes or locks what you already have; it only blocks adding more.

How far do the 5,000 sign-up credits go?

5,000 credits equal $0.50. At DeepSeek V4 Flash list price that is roughly 260 light continuations (80–130k characters of new text), or a good few evenings of roleplay chat; a frontier-priced model burns through it much faster. 1 credit = $0.0001, and every deduction is itemized in the usage log.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits never expire and you are only charged for what you actually use. Packs run from $0.99 (6,000 credits) to $32.99 (340,000 credits) on Google Play; the Chinese Alipay channel on foreverse.cn sells the same amounts at converted prices.

Does the app ever see my API key?

No. Keys are stored on your device with system-level encryption, and requests go straight from the phone to the provider — they never pass through our servers, and we add zero markup. 62 providers ship preconfigured; anything else connects as a custom OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time purchase: $19.99 on Google Play (¥144 via Alipay on the Chinese store), yours permanently, shared across up to 5 devices on one account. It lifts the quantity limits (unlimited local books, cards, companions) and adds two bulk utilities, full-library backup and whole-backup ZIP import — the core features are already all in the free tier.

Same model — how do official credits compare to BYOK on price?

The official channel prices models at public list price plus a service margin of about 50% (what it buys you: no provider account, no key setup, one bill). BYOK runs at raw list price. For light use the difference is pocket change; for heavy long-term use BYOK always wins. The cost calculator breaks it down per model and per workload.
